+ Xylitol is good for digestion – but start slowly

Xylitol is seen by the body as fiber, a Pre-Biotic, and it breaks down to form Butyrate in the gut. When large amounts of xylitol are consumed at once, xylitol can act as a laxative - especially for a person with poor digestive health. The recommendation is to start slowly – perhaps one mint after each meal– three times a day. This can slowly increase to two mints, five times a day over a period of six months.
